Very often some children have trouble learning to read. When it becomes apparent that a child is struggling, every action should be taken to stop that child from falling behind in school.
Before any program is begun, however, the child should be given an eye and hearing test to make sure that neither poor eyesight nor auditory inadequacy is the cause of the reading problem. Only then should a customized reading program be considered.
Upon entering the reading program, each child’s reading skills are evaluated, reading difficulties are identified, and an individualized program is developed.
The program is designed for children whose language is English. It has a sound basis in developing phonetic competency and early writing skills. |

The reading program will incorporate elements of various established reading methods such as VAKT, the Writing Road to Reading, and the broad-based Scholastic Reading Program as well as customized and individualized learning activities, games, and resources that reinforce phonetic skills.
(VAKT is a multi-sensory approach that uses visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile methods when teaching a student to read. Emphasis is placed on words and sounds as they are seen, heard, written, and spoken making the learning experience a totally interactive process.)
